Current Events

We believe our high school students reporting on current events that affect us in the Upstate of South Carolina in particular, and the rest of our state, and country in general, is crucial to their becoming informed, knowledgeable, members of our society.

In order to receive an A the report must not be only an interesting story. It has to be a newsworthy report that has a direct effect on us.

Bible

Each week high school students are required to memorize a passage of scripture. Fridays are reserved for their reciting the scripture for the week.

We will also have a planned study on a particular book or subject from the bible. We will also have discussions on any biblical subjects that are of interest to the students.

Math

We use Saxon Math in all of our grades in high school. Our students have their own individual needs in this subject, which requires several different levels of study. The students are given as much one-on-one help as needed. Otherwise, they will work on their own. At least three completed lessons per week are required. Lessons to be corrected by the students must be returned the next day for the final grade.

Biology

All of our science courses are based on Creation. This year, we are studying Biology II  (Biology of the Human Body)  Students enrolled in this course will have required labs to complete, as well as drawings of the human anatomy to complete and discuss. Classroom grading will depend on participation during each class time. Every two to three weeks students will be tested on the completed module.

Biblical Greek

The high school students who are planning to go on to college are required to complete two years of language.

Ebenezer Academy offers Biblical Greek for the language requirement. The first year, (Greek I) the student will master all the grammar involved, and most of the nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and prepositions. Around the middle of the first quarter the student will be parsing the words learned, and will begin translating passages from scripture. By the end of the first year the student will know more than fifty percent of the words used in the New Testament.

During the second year (Greek 2) the student will learn the verbs and other tenses that are necessary to continue translating scripture. In order to be successful, the second year student must continue to stay sharp with everything learned in the first year.

History

We desire for our students to know the true history of this wonderful country of ours.  Understanding the Founding documents, the government as our founders intended it to be, and the events that have continued to shape us.  A firm foundation now will allow students to understand and form their own opinions of events as they reach voting age, and perhaps become our leaders in the future.

English

Grammar is front and center in English. Students will be writing various types of papers, including letters to friends, and family, formal correspondence, and research papers. Spelling, and vocabulary will be a part of class assignments each week.
